1st wedding anniversary dinner

Post by p3ripperfw » March 25th, 2017, 9:48 pm

My wife and I are celebrating our first wedding anniversary tonight. Had reservations to Reata (a really good steak restaurant in Fort Worth Texas). Unfortunately wife come down with pretty severe bronchitis and laringitis so we had to cancel and stay home. Figured that was no reason not to have a good meal. Beef tenderloin, lobster, Brussels sprouts, and chefs butter did the trick. Been a great year and the wife's starting to feel better too.

Good on you to make her a good meal when she was feeling down... Surf and Turf is great...
not so sure about the brussle sprouts through. :ymsick:
Had to eat too many as a kid for me to rekindle any relationship to that branch of the food pryamid.

Thanks guys it was a great meal! I appreciate all the well wishes also. Ajfoxy I know how that is. I wasn't a huge fan of them but my wife started bringing fresh ones home and I figured out how I like to cook them. I cook them in the cast iron after I sear the steaks. Leave the burnt seasoning from the steaks in there and pour some water in to release the seasoning and dump the Brussels sprouts in the water to simmer. Add some butter, little more salt, pepper, and garlic as you want. Toward the end I splash some white cooking wine in with it and add some heavy whipping cream to make a sort of cream sauce.

Great job bro. Hate that your wife got sick, but you definitely saved the day. Bet that restaurant food wouldn't have been as good as yours anyway. Commercial cooking can't compare to a home cooked meal that you put your heart into...its seasoned with love. As a man who has been married almost 20 years, appreciate the following words because you will rarely hear them. She is lucky to have you.
