12/5/11 breakfast contest winners!

Post by Frank_Cox » December 5th, 2011, 7:32 pm

Ok everbody here ya go, the first Food contest winners. Our first Food contest was a Breakfast turn in contest. here's how the scoring worked...
  • 50% quality of pictures and process explanation
  • 30% difficulty of preparation
  • 20% appearance and presentation
Let me tell ya, this was really hard for me to judge... they all looked Really Great! :LG: :LG:

so the runner up for second place was ... Edna's Kid! here is his turn-in

Breakfast contest entry
Image
From: Edna's Kid

Leftover "Q" breakfast casserole

Hang onto all those "jibbles" of "Q" that seem to occur after every cook/feed until you get a couple pounds worth and make this... (had to take brisket point along and shoot this at my Dad's over thanksgiving so no smoker available)

Spray down a 9 X 13 pan with Pam.
Line the bottom of it with a couple flour tortillas cut to fit. Use tin snips if they're really old tortillas... just sayin'
Image
Pour your BBQ jibbles in to cover the tortillas.
Image
Image
Beat up 9 eggs in a bowl and pour them over the meat/tortillas.
Into the oven/smoker at 350 degrees for 30 minutes
Image
Image
Remove and cover with 2 layers of your favorite sliced cheese (I like american and smoked provolone)
Back in the oven for 15 more minutes to melt/brown the cheese.
Image
Voila! Breakfast BBQ casserole.
Image
Image
You can pour sop over it if you like but put a slice of this on top of your head and your tongue will slap you silly trying to get at it!
EK
If you're not having fun BBQing then you're not doing it right.

Winner coming up next post! .... :-ss :-ss :-ss

Here's kam's turn-in...

Breakfast turn in.
From: k.a.m.
Mexican omelet fattie.

Started out cooking some pintos for refried beans.
Image
A couple of pics of my ingredients.
Image
Image

Cooking out the grease from the chorizo.
Image

Then we cook the taters.
Image

Whip up some refried beans.
Image

Here is the omelet with all the ingredients I added some bacon as well.
Image

Now the fun if folding the omelet wasn't enough roll 2lbs. of sausage around it.
Image
Wrapped in 1lb. of bacon and ready to chill while I build a fire in the kettle.
Image

On the kettle with a couple pieces of Oak.
Image

After resting and ready to slice.
Image

Sliced and ready to plate.
Image

Plated with some left over taters, beans, quick pico and flour torts. For today's salsa I chose Big Orson's Mango Habanero salsa a great combination.

Thank You E.K. :) It was fun smack talking with you for sure. :points: My wife looked at your turn in and said that is a definite to do she really enjoyed the looks of it plated up as I did. I fell in love with your butchers block I would have it chained to the floor so it doesn't walk off.
Smoked party treats sound like fun to me. :kewl:

Sold my first smoker to my good friend the plumber - still uses and loves it - but his eating habits are worse than mine... besides - he has the wrong kind of snake for clogged arteries... :)

E.K. I feel your pain. I am finishing up antibiotics now for a trip to the gastro doctor. My supposed to be kidney stone was diverticulitis. Now I have to go in for the almighty scope at the end of the month once the healing is done. I am on my second round of antibiotics. :hissy:
