I gotta head to the wake forest NC area this week for work. Leaving today around noonish. Since Im partial to the vinegar based sauces and sweet rubs that are known in this area ...im gonna spend dinner this week sampling as much Q as my body can hold...Ill check in from time to time and let you know what I find good

Wanted to check in with you guys and let you know how im doin. been here for 3 days and have ate a 3 different joints. 1 hole in the wall which was outstanding, 1 locally owned larger place which was ok and 1 NC chain restaurant (by mistake, got lost and had to eat somewhere) which was garbage. I took a few pics but they will have to wait. internet connection at this hotel sucks. Kinda fun checking these places out. Also met a guy in the class that im taking from Alabama and he has a comp team and has hung with some of the big boys of Q. 7 seconds on pitmasters he said!. Real nice guy tho.

ate dinner tonight at a place called The Pit in raleigh NC. Evidently the place has been highlighted on Food Tv and the travel channel. I got to tell you the ribs and grits were outstanding. Best place Ive eatn so far. pics will follow soon my friends

well boys and girls, i returned from NC early Saturday morning. I promised a few pics so here we go!

My first night I ended up getting lost even with GPS help (cough, cough) and ended up finding this place near a mall.

Its a Chain eatery. My dinner looked like this.

It was garbage. Dry and tastless. Cross this one off your list!

The place I wanted to go for dinner was found to close at 2pm everyday so obviously they cater to the lunch crowd. Well if you were me what would you do? Of course go for lunch.

Holdens BBQ and lunch looked like this

It was good! So good I went back the next day and got lunch again!


this place was next and honestly I saw a few of these places while driving but they were good. not outstanding but decent

this was the sandwich.
I skipped Q for a day then found this place....

featured on TV a few times and let me tell you it was the best food I had all week.

looks like you had plenty of Q while you were down there. pics look fine to me.
the main problem with any commercial Q is they have to control portion sizes and be more production minded in order to make money. too bad it has to be that way
