well i listened to the show. I heard that I may have posted the thread to maybe brag about the opportunity. Well I thought about it, and I really dont think thats correct. I came to the website for advice. Just because I dont take a certains persons advice, dosnt meen dont respect the advice. I appreciate the help i get here, and thank you for the radio discussion. I look at this opportunity as failure is not an option. Maybe Ill lick myself in the ass later but I need to suit up and make it happen. Thanks everyone for the advice, and I hope I didnt make a bad impression as to the person I am by posting here. I consider you all my friends.
My brother and I have worked together for nearly 40 years. We have started business and bought businesses. Some just defy any and all mathematical analysis. Some owners cannot not show the way they make money. Clover Ridge Smokers has the outline and due diligence is way too important to rush thru. Tax returns are important and as he said, the legal status. The fact that you are working there for a year is very helpful depending on how involved you may be to the office and how the actual business is conducted.
Keep in mind : my brother and I share some critical weaknesses and extreme strengths. That is he covers my ass and I cover his...in areas where one of us might be off, the other one might be that much better ...I suck working with people, he's got a gift of gab...
If you get time, check this out. It's call the Peter Principal. In any hierarchy , a person can rise to their level of incompetence.
A guy is a great sorter in a factory and gets promoted to supervisor...he understands the process having done it so he does it well. As a result, gets promoted to the office filing reports and other administrative work. Because he was never a paperwork guy, he screws up and starts to fail as a office guy. He has just succeeded to rise to a level of his own incompetence.
I know this theory well....don't ask.
If he allows you to get a view of the day to day operations and develop a list of questions that your or his accountant can provide you with information, you can base your choices on what you see, best of luck in your decision...!
Make no mistake, there ain't no powder in this Puff ! And... I'm not really a crazy person but I play one in real life
