Sorry for the delay guys, my brother found out he had a brain tumor and they done emergency brain surgery. He's out of the hospital now and doing pretty good. I will get pictures soon.
He said it was a Cheaper model stand up propane smoker. He thinks it's to thin to hold temps. What's the insulation called that you guys put in your FB's ? Maybe he could just wrap that around it to hold the heat in.
The insulation is not really designed to stand up to un-protected use. I’d not think you would get much of a lifespan out of it as a wrap....and it’s expensive.
Didn’t think of that bigt...I’ve also used a moving blanket once in a while if I get a windy day...just keep it away from the firebox, lol.
And I just re-read the original question. It said he can’t get temps over 250. In my experience, 90% of smoking is done at/below this range so I wonder if the jets/gegulator were designed with that in mind. You can get higher btu jets.
And if it is really that thin of metal you might be cautious of getting it too hot for fear of warping.
