Hi I just joined. From southern California currently cooking on a classic webber grill, and a small propane powered smoker. I had my heart set on building a reverse flow with offset Firefox, but I think I'll try my luck with one of the gravity feed units first. Gonna be a while before I make a build thread, but I'll be here reading and learning until then.

Welcome aboard!! You could build a UDS to hold you over until you are able to build the one that you want.

Thank you all.... wrong section I'm sure, but while I have you all here I have a dumb question.

I want to buy plans for the mini gravity feed unit with cbc cad file. How exactly does that work? The plans simple enough I just print them on my home printer. The cnc cad file is for the steel guys to cut parts for me right? Does a guy bring them that file on a disc or is that something that just gets printed as well? Just trying too figure out what I'm buying and if I can use my phone or I need to get out the ol computer.

You will want to print out the plans. I printed a set for the house to make notes on and a “working set” for the shop wall.

My understanding is the cut file can sent electronically or thumb drive to the steel supplier...but I didn’t get the cut file so could be wrong.

Both, if I’m not mistaken, will be sent to you electronically by Smokerbuilder.

I bit the bullet and bought the plans for the mini. My printer isn't exactly printing like it should, but that's another story all together. Not sure when I'll actually start construction or just how many months till I finish, but I'm kinda excited about the build and the rest drive.

Treat the whole exercise as a journey. Don't rush it, enjoy the experience. Shout out if you get stuck or don't understand anything. Don't take short cuts.
And don't forget to post pics of your build while you are doing it. Nobody on this site is going to judge your welds or fabrication skills, so don't be shy with the pics.

I'm definitely not planning to rush it, not sure if I'll post pics someone will judge my welds even if they don't confess. So many great write ups on the build already I've read them all, but many of the tips I just won't understand until I get there. It will be fun no doubt.
