There’s probably 1000’s of pits out there built with these calcs.

This is the calculator I used to figure out the volume of the octagon:

https://www.vcalc.com/wiki/KurtHeckman/Octagon+Volume

Looks like 180 gallons based on 12x60” sections.

I thought I’d give an update on my smoker build they are A little harder than I thought and taking way longer, but I am having fun doing it. Any advice or criticism is well appreciated. I’m a rookie

Looks great. I really like the baffle plate drain. Should make clean up easy. Have you run the weight calculations on that beast? What’s your axle rating? Looks like it barely fits!

The trailer says 2000# rating I will have to extend the tongue on it and you're right it barely fits hopefully the axle will handle it.

An axle swap is pretty simple if you get too heavy. With all that weight forward of the axle it should ride nice if you build the tongue out longer. Are you going to make it an a-frame tongue?

The trailer tongue is bolted on the bottom of the trailer underneath the frame so I’m just going to remove the old one and install a new one but longer. Thanks
