new guy from deep south Texas

Post by noted1017 » November 30th, 2021, 11:02 am

Howdy, just wanted to post a brief intro. I’m into building things n interested in building a smoker. People in general from this area are not willing to help with the build of a smoker or pit must be a secret. In my opinion. I have decent welding experience. I also a 20”x33”pipe I plan on making a smoker out of for my back yard n an old 250 gallon propane tank I would like to get plans n things to learn n share my progress.

Welcome aboard! We've had a few Texans over the years that wouldn't mind helping out. Good luck with your build.

Frank sells the plans for the 250gal tank and I believe they are on his "Black Friday" sale so might want to look into that asap. The plans are pretty foolproof...they show piece by piece sizes, cuts and assembly order for the entire build.

Welcome to the site. We are all willing to answer any questions you have as well as assist you in spending a copious amount on steel, equipment and materials to build your own custom pit.

Howdy, Texas is big deep south 500 miles south of San Antonio n SA is in central Texas not south Texas. I remember a quote that an ex governor never said “I can see Russia from my house.” SNL did, in a hilarious skit. I use to go fishing on the Rio Grande River but with open borders can not get near it. Please allow me to reintroduce myself to those forum members that have welcome me THANK YOU. I am going to do a build thread but my computer skills n trying to load pictures will be hard for me. My computer is not friendly. I will make some mistakes. I hope my journey will be fun .

Good luck with your build. Smokers are cool, but it's a lot of work, too. It's worth it, though.

I got the guy from Old West Smoke Co. over here in Groves, Texas wanting me to build him a smoker. We went and looked at a 250 this morning and he bought it. So looks like we might be building at the same time. Been a little quiet in here lately. They had a food truck event today in Port Neches, I went over and had a couple of their brisket tacos, man were they good!
