Newbie

Post by capt j-rod » February 11th, 2013, 1:07 pm

The voices in my head told me to bring home a tank... This forum convinced me to make it an rf smoker... My wife advised me to incorporate comfortable sleeping accommodations into the design. This is normal right???

Do Not Panic....
What you are experiencing is better known as the direct result of the first few times you "asked forgiveness instead of permission".
Proceed as normal and do not let the threats deter you. as you continue in your BBQ building addiction, the threats will lessen and she will stop noticing.
A helpful tactic is to employ the use of a tool we refer to as "She Money" or Money she don't know 'bout. this will make things like new purchases less noticeable.
Good luck and stay strong bro! once she tastes the first round of Q come off that thing she will forget all about the whole incident and if your lucky, like Gatewood Iron, she will want to participate in the cooking as well which will give you the excuse to build another smoker!

I also use the "look at all the money I saved us by building my own" approach. Tends to work.

Yup there all right on the money.

And it does get Bette in time. I am gearing up for my step daughter to cook comps this year.

This could be living the dream.
I build.
I haul.
I help set up.
I mingle and consume cocktails.
She preps and cooks.
I offer advise that's probably not wanted.
I sit at judging. Then reep a percentage of winnings for fuel cost.
I drive home and park the trailer.

Did I mention I market smokers the whole time.

Let me know if that works, Tom.

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

I think the sleeping accommodations is sage advice. You are going to want a place to rest for those long over night cooks. Sounds like an open checkbook to me...

Oh Ya, its gonna work. Well it better.

And my days of sleeping in the chair are done.

Not saying that I wont dose off in a chair, just that the chair wont be my only place to sleep.

Holy crap alleyrat, I can't believe I misread that.....
She meant " build some sleeping quarters while you're at it"
Your right, she did give you a blank check!

Hey, I just call it as I see it. AR_Senior's wife told him she'd come to the gathering if he got a fifth wheel trailer. I said well, what are you waiting for???
