Chad from Iowa

Post by sassy's » October 27th, 2011, 8:09 am

Hello everyone. I found this site while, you guessed it, looking for smoker plans. I bought my first smoker at wal-mart. It was a char-broil vertical propane smoker. After smoking a few things and deciding that all of this food would be better if I made my own rubs and sauces, I started toting around my new passion and cooking for friends and family. After hearing that the ribs I was making were the best these people had ever had I decided to enter a competition. It was a small county fair and I ended up placing third in four categories. This added more fuel to my fire. One month later I entered a KCBS type event and was informed that propane was not allowed in a normal event. After this event (which I placed first in BTW) I decided to gut the propane and convert it to charcoal. This worked great, but was still to small. My solution was to buy yet another charbroil off-set smoker with much more room. I was still not satisfied. I want to do a whole hog!!! This past weekend I was smoking for the grand parents at their home when I found an old fuel drum. The next day I bought this drum and brought it home. All of this lead me tosmokerbuilder.com where I will be purchasing the plans for a reverse flow smoker. This should be a very fun and interesting journey, I am so looking forward to building my first rig.

I just realized that my posts get a little long. I hope that you all don't get fed up with my posts, but I'm a story teller and love the theatrics. Details are what make the story interesting to me. Sorry for being long, but this stuff excites me so much that I can hardly contain it. It has taken me 37 years to find something that I am passionate about and it just happens to be smokers and smoking.

Welcome to the site again. LOL

Awesome logo!!

I just saved the file and it said it was only 12kb. Thats plenty small but there may be a size restriction on width tho.

Here it is after I saved it and reloaded it to the site.

It's no big deal, I can get a cool avatar from anywhere. I do appreciate that you guys are not only smoker friendly, but avatar friendly as well.

Try and save the image Tom uploaded and try to use it. I can also apply avatars from my side.

Just tried it. It told me the pixels and mine were wide. I originally designed this for a 3x7 banner so I understand why it's to long.
