New guy from central Indiana

Post by tractor guy » May 25th, 2013, 4:59 pm

Hello everyone!

I'm digging for info on building my own smoker. I found this site, and I have learned a lot from what I have already read. Looks like a good site full of good info. I know I'll be asking questions, so please be patient as I try to figure this stuff out.

My first build will be a patio sized reverse flow. I have been thinking about building a smoker for a while, and as an engineer by trade I think about projects quite a bit. I had come up with a design very similar to the RF without even knowing that there was a name for that style of smoker. Now that I know my idea is a sound one I just need to figure out if the stuff I have on hand will calculate out to make it work.

Sweet, I was a contractor for Boone REMC for a while. I am from Lafayette originally, but have lived in Missouri for the last 5 years.

That's a negative. On the plus side not having me around filling your head with bad ideas will save you time, money, frustration, and generally an inordinate amount of beer.

Welcome Tractor guy! You got the pit calc link there so all you need is a very basic graph-paper sketch of your idea using your parts on hand that shows all the dimensions. Sit down and run the numbers and you'll have your question answered.

See how I made that sound simple? :D

And on the eighth day God created barbecue …. because he DOES love us and he wants us to be happy. :D
Current smokers: Egor (trailered RF) and Easybake (tabletop pellet drive)
