New Guy from Kentucky

Post by KYPI » August 6th, 2013, 10:28 am

Hello everyone! Recently retired and have developed a major interest in BBQ and Smokers. I started looking for a small horizontal smoker/grill and just can't get past the idea that I can build my own! I have a Lincoln buzzbox, torches, plenty of scrap metal and even have a blacksmith shop (owned riding stables in a previous life and did my own farrier work). Only real problem is I know nothing about building a smoker so I thought that if you all don't mind I'll just hid out in the background......maybe listen and learn!

You found the right site to hang out. I'd suggest digging through some of the old threads and see which build model matches your own vision. Lots of serious builders haunt these pages. welcome aboard.

:welcome:

If it can't be smoked .... try frying it. It that don't work, it's probably best just left alone

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

Thanks everyone! Soilhunter.....I'm from northeastern Kentucky. I live close to Grayson, Olive Hill and Sandy Hook, KY. Actually in a rural area that is about 15 miles from each town. When I learn how to post pics I'll sure post them. Until then I'll be reading and trying to figure out what will work for me! Thanks again!
