Greetings from Virrrrginia

Post by Durwood » January 13th, 2015, 3:01 pm

Hello all!

This looks like a great forum with tons of great info...hopefully I can contribute!

Yep, hopelessly addicted to bbq. I built a barrell cooker/smoker a couple years ago to get my feet wet and I am ready to commit the rest of my life to smoking (is this where I say my vows?). Getting ready to start a 275 gallon oil tank reverse flow on a trailer. Taking my time on this one and reading up as much as I can. I have a pretty good plan in my mind, but have already found some great tips on this forum on things I hadn't thought of. Many thanks now and more in advance!

Durwood

Welcome to the site. Several people here on the site have built that exact cooker. Make sure you post pics of your build

Thanks for the greetings everyone. Still gathering parts and crunching numbers, but I'll get some pictures up soon.

I found a woodstove for the firebox, but the calculator has it at 80% of recommended size. Looking at some of the other posts, not feeling too confident about that...

With enough research here on the site, and there are thousands of posts, you come to love that calculator. You've already made a significant discovery. One that would define the success of your building efforts

Lots of help here, just ask.

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

Welcome. Another Virginian here. You wouldn't happen to hunt in Northumberland County, would you?

Anyone remember Durwood Kirby from TV in the 1960's? (Candid Camera)
