Hello Everyone

Post by SmokinJoeSpivey » August 17th, 2015, 2:05 pm

Hello to everyone. My name is Joe Spivey. I live in Kentucky. I am a certified weld inspector, and quality control manager. I have been welding for about 20 years. I am a HUGE BBQ fanatic! I am wanting to build my own smoker. I am good with AutoCad, I got axcess to full shop full of plasma cutters, laser cutters, saws, machining centers, lathes ect.. Just need some guidance.
God Bless to all!

Well ... your welds will be picture perfect. Welcome to this great group. My neighbor moved to Kentucky from NJ about 10 years ago and I have a friend who lives in Cadiz. Between the auto cad and the pit calculator you should be doing great

Make no mistake, there ain't no powder in this Puff ! And... I'm not really a crazy person but I play one in real life

Welcome Joe! :welcome:

It sounds like we have a lot in common. I've been a welder and machinist since my teens (which was a LONG time ago!), and a BBQ fanatic to boot for about that long too. I've built a few smokers and been lucky that they worked pretty well, but the knowledge that flows like water around here takes the "luck factor" out of the equation. No doubt about it, these guys have it down to an exact science. I pored over several related forums before registering on this one, and here lies the greatest treasure trove of information on the topic anywhere on the Internet.

I've really enjoyed soaking it all in and learning everything I can from the old salts, and I'm sure you will too. You're definitely at the right place!
