Smoker Enthusiast

Post by Smoking Joe » April 29th, 2017, 3:39 pm

Hello to everyone from St. Louis. I have been smoking meats for several years now and now I am looking to build my own smoker and take it to the next level. I have been on the hunt for a few 250 gallon old propane tanks and a 500 gallon one but they are had to find.... Any help pointing me in the right direction would be a big help.

Hey, welcome to the forum! You can call propane businesses and ask them if they have any decommissioned tanks, or hunt craigslist is the best advice I can give. I searched for mine but one ended up falling into my lap basically while I was talking to a guy about my dream to build a big smoker, he said well come by my house I have an old tank you might be interested in. I traded him strait, I gave him a 500 gallon diesel transfer tank ( thin walled) for the 325 gallon propane tank I am using for my build. He was happy I was happy, and now I just need to finish it up so I can start smokin! Good luck with your search, you'll find one.

Welcome! I think I can help you with a 250 gal propane tank, I am about 75 miles East of St.Louis. 250 gal is 30" diameter and has a cylinder between the bell ends long enough for a 60" long door. Pm me if interested.
