It really suprised me on how it smoked! It got to temp about thirty minutes. The fire pipe and cooking chamber are 1/2" thick so once it got to temp it mantained all day. It burned a stick about once a hour. The wood is split in 3 ways making them smaller also  . I placed my fluke digital meter at the cooking surface and it stayed around 250-260~. The mounted gauge stayed around 250-245 also. This is my first pit build ever! I'm impressed on the reverse flow! Now i got to get back on my big pit. I found a nice used trailer down the road from me and i'm working on the ole' boy. Once i get the trailer it will be done soon. I will keep this updated. Thanks again for all the props and support! :kewl:

Well I finally struck a deal on a used horse trailer! Got it for $300 bucks . Image. ImageImageImage. I plan on taking down the walls about half way. I started last night but ran out of oxygen on my cutting rig :headwall:. That trailer had 4 layers of old wood and osb! I thought it was funny that the trailer has cadi hub caps

I just put the pit on there to get my tounge weight down and get some ideas. I already pressure washed it after i got the 4 layers of floor off. I plan to use POR on the frame and axles. The axles are in perfect condition! Two 3500# axles. It doesn't have trailer breaks but i can make that happen down the road if need be. So what do yall think about the goat corral trailer? Ideas are always welcome.

:LG:

Your going to get those sides off of there and that thing will be great! The floor you decide on, will give you back some of the bridging effect you loose when it is put on. Cool, more, more.

In the first picture you can see a pieace of the tube i'm going to use. I put it up there to get a look at what it will look like finished. :kewl:. I finished up the pit this past weekend! I burned it out also. I put on the rails, damper installed with a cool handle and made the fire box grate. It took awhile but well worth it. Here are some pictures.ImageImageImageImage. I have some more coming later. I still have to finish the floor in the trailer and small details but the pit is done. Burned it out and now going to sandblast it and get some good paint on all of it. Weather turned crappy down here yesterday.

Here are some more pictures of the pit. ImageImageImage. Last night i made up some barstool tops out of 3/16 steel to put on barstool cushions. They will go on the rail along the side :chef: I also plated the tounge area underside with 1/4" steel to help on tounge weight. Its alittle back heavy right now. Once I get my firewood storage up front and sink, deck the trailer it should be fine. B-). So what do yall think? pros, cons?

Talk about your conversation starters...

... that stack looks like you raided a cross-country natural gas pipeline ... dang cool! :kewl:

Anybody asks about it just tell them:

... Darndest thing ... it's been that way ever since that interstate overpass
... so I can cook around corners ...
... I thought everybody's stack had a curl! (TWSS) :D

And on the eighth day God created barbecue …. because he DOES love us and he wants us to be happy. :D

Thanks for all the props guys! I got the barstool cushions made up last night and set them on the trailer but DAM it was cold last night here! I am going to mount them in a way that when you leave you can pull them up and place them in a storage box. Cool thing is they spin 360*. I finally see the light at the end on this project and i starting to get giddy on cooking on this big pig! I'm just making sure all the loose ends are done. Oh when i burned it out Sunday evening i got the temp up to 800* at the cooking surface :homer:. I wanted the whole pit to relax and tried to burn off the paint. Its a sea green now? That paint is tough :o. This weekend if the weather is nice i am going to start preping to paint. I got to get some blasting sand for my sand blaster. Again thanks for all the nice words. Oh and the stack in definitly a conversion pieace! :wtf: Thats why i used it. :points:

Worked on the pit some last night. i installed the barstool seats on the rail. Image. started kicking around a idea of a sink. I have a new parts washer that has never been used, so i got to thinking about a loop system for water. Image. I'm thinking about coiling some 1/2" copper tube in front of the firebox and place a plate infront of the coil to heat uo the water inside the coil. I will put a inline pump in and circulate the water. The parts washer is 20 gallons . I plan on making a manifold to hook up a water hose and a drain. So what do yall think? good idea or bad idea? Or am i just over thinking it?

Sounds to me like it would work. Same principal as an outside wood stove. :LG:

Thats what i was thinking also SmokinFF. It would be nice to wash your hands and cutting board when out at a family function or event. The water shouldn't get to dirty, if it does then pull the drain and flush it out.
