Hello From South Louisiana

Post by Q-Dat » February 21st, 2014, 7:13 pm

Hello everyone. I'm Jason. Been making BBQ for a long time now. I'm looking to get more knowledge on the pit building side of things. This looks like the place to learn!

I'll be starting a thread to get advice on a reverse flow conversion I would like to do.

Hi and welcome,

How much further south is southern Louisiana ? :D Actually, have a friend who lived in Slidel. That is a very nice smoker in that other thread.

I am sure you will get a few great ideas.

Thanks. I live outside of Pearl River so I'm actually about 30 away from Slidell.

So you too must have had Katrina problems. This guy was 80 at the time and while he wanted to stay there his daughter kinda forced him to move. He still wants to go back but he is becoming more dependent on her help.

You likely have material handling abilities that will manipulate these heavy parts in position. Mine were not nearly as heavy and I had to use tools like the Egyptians building a pyramid....not fun! A few months back there was a person who had a pipe in the cook chamber and it did not deliver enough heat. I am guessing it was too small and you might find it in a search or maybe one of the guys might remember. As mentioned, that pit calculator can be a good friend. Keep the posts coming!

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.
