Greetings and Hallucinations!!!

Post by phil c » November 22nd, 2014, 8:04 am

Good Morning everyone! I'm looking to build a new smoker and this looks like the place to learn what I need.
About me? I'm in Iowa and own a small BBQ and catering biz we call DIZZY DADDY BBQ. we do a variety of catering as well as setting up to vend at small town festivals and parties! We are a Family operation, in fact my Proudest day came this summer at the Iowa State Fair where my Daughter placed 2nd in pork, my wife won the showmanship championship and I won Lamb and took the Grand Championship.
But on to the smoker, I need a bigger one! my current unit is my own build, I'll try to post some pics of it. a 125 gal reverse flow. It turns out some great BBQ but its becoming too small and I have fond the sleep IS NOT overrated.
I'm thinking an insulated Vertical maybe RF, I like the burn time and the possibility for some sleep.
I'll be lurking around trying to get ideas and looking at plans. Hope to get some good advice!

Hey Phil
...welcome. I am discovering some remarkable burn times with my 2nd build. It's a Gravity Feed . I've been advised 30+ hours is not an UNCOMMON event but somewhat normal. Look it up on the site if interested.
:welcome:

Make no mistake, there ain't no powder in this Puff ! And... I'm not really a crazy person but I play one in real life

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

Welcome Phil! :welcome:

Check out Eli in the RF department(?) he's maze driven and around 20 hours isn't unusual for him - even though most things are done way before that….. :D

And on the eighth day God created barbecue …. because he DOES love us and he wants us to be happy. :D
Current smokers: Egor (trailered RF) and Easybake (tabletop pellet drive)

I concur....sleep is under rated.

And the vert coal chutes are awesome.
