Post by omaplewood » December 14th, 2011, 12:28 am

Hi all,
I am new here. I wonder if anyone has a good picture or idea for latches for doors on smoker I am building.
Also when i cut my tank open the door twisted. Any ideas on how to straighten the door???

Welcome to the forum omaplewood I am looking forward to seeing some pics of your cooker build. :)

A lot of guys use toggle latches for their doors here is a link that may help.

As Frank mentioned I came up with a solid solution for problem doors but if your doors are slightly out of whack some pics will help us to lead you to a fix. I have a library of tweaks but seeing your problem will help me from posting a ton of unnecessary pics I hate to type. ;)

welcome to the site BBQ there are a lot of things you can use for latches i think on my next build i'm going to use or make some that look like race car hood latches (the pinned style)

So you think that money is the root of all evil. Have you ever asked what is the root of all money?

I agree, pics would be the most help of all.

Other then that. I would have to say either use auto clave screw latchs or borrow franks fork lift and park the left rear wheel on the offending corner of the door.
