Young CA bbq lover and first time trailer builder

Post by carterk » December 21st, 2016, 12:16 am

Hey all,

I'm a college student in CA and have gotten into building pits because it can be very difficult to find good barbecue where I'm from. I'm here to learn and gain some advice as I work on finishing up my second pit and my first trailer build. My first pit was a backyard offset made from a 55 gallon drum. I'm now working on a 250 gallon traditional offset trailer largely inspired by Aaron Franklin's pits that I'm getting close to completing. Pictures attached. My setup consists of a little Lincoln 140 Mig, angle grinder, and oxy-acetylene torch. Been lurking for a while and am very appreciative of all the knowledge here so I thought I'd share some of what I've down and hope to get some more advice going forward. Thanks!

Looking good there. I know what you mean about good Q in California. Where are you at? I am in the Bay Area.

Looks at a piece of meat and wonders how many ways can I smoke that.
