I am a retired Structural Engineer, Inspector, Educator and Author. I have a BS in Structural Engineering and completed my two Masters in 1978. Applied Science and Engineering. I completed my PhD. Engineering in 1983. For eighteen years I taught college level math, Structural Engineering, and Chemistry. I owned and operated my own firm inspecting and certifying AWS QC on US DoD contracts. My firm also oversaw the instruction and AWS certification of thousands of US government employees and contractors. I've published seven books and countless technical manuals and articles. I own forty-three US patents. I lost my wife to cancer eight years ago and decided life is too short not to enjoy. I am now retired and consumed by my hobbies of fishing, off-grid living, wine-making, building BBQ pits and smokers, and competing in IBCA sanctioned BBQ cook offs. I still re-certify all my AWS certificates and still do occasional structural consulting but I'm getting selfish with my time in my old age.
