Another pennsyltuckian joining the crew

Post by RevRico » August 9th, 2017, 10:07 am

First off, I would like to say I'm surprised it has taken me this long to find the forum, especially with the extremely useful information you have cataloged.

Now then, a little about me.

I just recently turned 30, and acquired many useful metal working tools. I've been smoking meat on my own since I was 12, up until next week exclusively on the same old New Braunfels offset smoker.

About 3 weeks ago I finished my first build, a 30 gallon compressor offset with a propane tank firebox. I got it seasoned last weekend and will be doing an initial cook this coming weekend.

In the mean time, I've come to own a 275 gallon oil tank, which is how I found the forum. It's going to be a slow build as I want to buy the trailer and all the metal I think I'll need before I get started. I'll be building a copy of the "the great smoker 275 gallon" thread, I think. It looks to be the best way to make use of what I have material wise.

I also run, and am currently rebuilding, revskitchen.com. It started out just as a recipe site, but I'm expanding to include my racing and metal working, as well as using it as a jumping point if I decide to get into the pig roasting business.

I have lots of questions, a handful of answers, and a strange writing style, so I look forward to learning and helping others out.

One more thing before I end my introduction post, twice a year I throw a big party, and invite any locals on the forums I belong to. The next one will probably be coming in September, so I'll keep everyone posted.

Thanks for letting me join, and when I can get back to my laptop I'll put up a build thread for my new offset and pictures, because everybody likes pictures.

coming soon, the new http://revskitchen.com with more fabrication, more racing exploits, and even more cooking.

Welcome to the crew.

You got any pictures of your recent build?

I started a thread, as promised. I have a 2 year old, so I can only use my laptop for pictures after she goes to bed or goes to her moms for the weekend.
