Newbie from Ontario Canada

Post by Arcwelder » February 14th, 2021, 10:12 am

Hi to everyone on the board. I hail from Ontario and have been BBQ’ing and grilling on a Kamado Joe for 5 yrs now and also on a Weber gas grill since I was a teenager.
I am a certified journeyman welder mostly pipe fabrication.
I have my own shop that I play around in after work and on weekends. I love smoking meats to the point where I am in the process of building my own smoker and hence my joining this austere forum.

Thanks, I’m working on a 24”x48”x1/2” offset smoker. I have the door to the firebox fabricated, as well as the lid for the CC cut in and trimmed with 1 3/4”x1/8” flat bar, and the end plates including one for the throat. I’ll see if I can figure out how to post pictures I’m not great with computers

Why in the world are you using 0.5 inch steel? It’ll take 2 hours to heat up and a small tractor to move!

I built one out of 1/2"...because it's what I had. It made an awesome smoker!
