PM Vault Clone

Post by Fattdaddy » February 1st, 2020, 5:11 pm

Greetings,

I am in the middle of building a cloned PM Vault and am working on the doors and door seals. I have not welded in my door stops because I am waiting until I decide on the type of gasket I want to use.
It looks like that on the PM Vault they use a 3/4” rope or tadpole gasket. I have looked at those options but started considering a flat self adhesive Nomex Gasket. The only problem is I can’t find one that is thick enough. I would like one 1/2” to 3/4” since I am using slam style latches.
Does anyone know if such an animal exists and if so where can I look.

Thanks in advance,
Fattdaddy

Have you considered using 1/4" on the door and 1/4" on the cooker?

I have thought about using 1” x 1/4” but wasn’t sure if there would be enough compression since I was using the slam latches.

If I did decide to use the 1” x 1/4” do you think I should weld the door stops flush against the door or leave maybe an 1/8” gap?

It just has to seal....not necessarily be crushed.

I used 1*1/4 on my GF. Just set the gap to 1/8 when fixing hinges.
