Hi Tim,

I'd built a large log splitter and when the oak splits, it creates small splints about 6-12" long and from 1/4" to 1 1/2" thick. I now also cut 4-6 in long "logs" and split them into 1" or so splits. Kinda like lump charcoal but wood. They have been drying for a few months now and I have about two 55 gallon pails full that burn well. I also re-split a bunch of seasoned logs I have here that are about 2 years old now. Alleyrat told me to put small sized chunks into the ash clean out under the fire and they burn very well

Make no mistake, there ain't no powder in this Puff ! And... I'm not really a crazy person but I play one in real life

40% is taking into consideration how much I already drink whilst there divided by the amount of hours spent in the sun and multiplied by how many naps this causes to incure times 3.14159. :BS:

DIY plans for gravity fed smoker.

Post by denis.clay » September 12th, 2021, 8:54 pm

I am building a large, horizontal, offset, reverse flow smoker. The smoke chamber is over 6 feet long, and 30 inches in diameter. The firebox is also round, 26 inches in diameter, and 30 inches long. I would like to add a gravity fed device and automate the feed to regulate the temperature.
Are there any DIY plans available for this large of a smoker?

This was discussed a few weeks ago.
I would go another route if it were me.
Unless you have a cheap and endless supply of fuel for the thing.
The one that was built a while back was a fuel hog as BigT and Frank Cox mentioned in the post I attached below..
http://www.smokerbuilder.com/forums/vie ... 31#p121131
Frank has some recommendations in this post also, but it seems ,like it is still a working theory. Unless you wanna take on a challenge and go with the recommendations. It would actually be pretty cool once any bugs are worked out of it if any..

If It were me, I would think about revamping the offset that you mention (if needed) or making a reverse flow out of it.
