Funny you should bring that up. "If it fits, it ships." The 1/2" plate for the firebox would go out anywhere CONUS for about 11 bucks. I think that's a screaming deal.

Yikes! That is cheap. My supplier wanted $60.00 to bring that little bit of 1/2" stock from their shop 50 miles away to their local garage 18 miles from me...
I just drove the little extra distance and picked it up. Would they really take that without a surcharge? I was there the other day and a similar topic was being argued in front of me. I know cut, it's a small package

So a medium flat rate box has a max allowable weight of 70 pounds! At 20 pounds a square foot for 1/2" plate, looks like you could cut all the plate and send it out! Gas is 3.50 a gallon out here. Putting a new blade in the hacksaw this am....
The inner bottom plate on these plans has it broke twice. Any reason not to just let it roll? No brake? Just slope to the left? Thanks in advanced.

Kind of looks like the same smoker, except the door swings differently, and is a surface mount door. The picture is of somebody's finished smoker, painted purple.
Is this the right kit for me? I am going to go surface mount with doors.
When I made that bottom plate I used 14gauge. Scored it maybe half way through the thickness with the 4 1/2" cutting discs and bent the shape THEN welded the score lines on each side. On the visible side, I just flap disc cleaned up the weld. It came out great, strong and cosmetically clean. I use this technique now for several bends I just can't make easily.

The insulation in my smoker weighs about 90 lbs. there are about 7 1/2 panels used of 2" . And, using sand would be messy and harder to contain. The insulation packed in well, and when welded in, seems to be unaffected by the welding process. The grinding sparks were more of a problem. It didn't burn but like steel wool, it gets eaten with the Sparks.

That will be fine, it isn't really drawing a flew like an offset. It is working more like an UDS. It uses a small fire, the work is being done by the insulation.

While I do have that same piece of pipe, it is the last thing I haven't even thought of yet. The sucker burns so well. I actually run my thermometer probes thru the opening up top

Thanks for that, Frank. I got the last interior pieces into the frame today. Tacked in place. You suggested the Hypertherm 45, and so help me, I went to Airgas for 11 pounds of wire for the MIG, and came back with the wire, plus the plasma cutter. 2000 dollar roll of wire!
Should have bought it from the get-go. What a machine! It's off camera to the right, but it cut that nice hole in the right side inner panel.
Nice..! trips like that can knock you over if they come too fast and furious. I hate the fact that I do those cuts with a 4.5" cutting disc. They come out good but I kill tons of time cutting the thicker they get. Looks like your moving along. My transfer tube cut wound up being two pieces and then seal welded back in place.
Congrats on the new cutter....it's a beauty

I got most of the welds done on the chamber today. They don't look that great. My seeing eye dog would flinch from time to time as the splatter set his fur on fire. Need to remember to not hold on to his leash while welding.....
Hey SmokinDTown, looking nice, where did you get the cart for your Miller 211, have same welder, need a nice cart and that one looks like it works well for the 211. Got a small crappy cart that the 211 is too big for so I need a nice cart for my 211 and 80 CF tank.
