2 1/2" valve

Post by dbcooper » May 10th, 2016, 3:59 pm

Just to confirm, the 2 1/2" valve measurement is the outside diameter of the pipe going into it, right? I ask because I'm looking at some ball valves in metric standards that are not even listing the pipe measurement. I figure I'll just take a ruler to it.

It should be at least 2 1/2"? a 2" one would be too small?

I'm guessing you are talking about a mini GF, I just ordered the pipe for mine yesterday, the ball valve is 50mm(2") & the pipe has an internal diameter of 50mm & an outside diameter of 60.2(about 2.5"), hope that helps. :kewl:

Are the correct parts Air Inlet Valve 47865K28 and Drain Valve 4786K27 from McMaster's? Also, what's the best plate to get them? Seems a bit pricey.

Ball valves come in two varieties, standard port which is a reduced bore and full port which has the same bore as the nominal pipe size. Make sure you purchase the full port ball valves

This place is quite reasonable

Brass ball valves of that size are expensive. They will last a lifetime however.

I got mine from grainger.....not cheap but they had it on my doorstep in 48 hours.

Hey Squiggle, where did you get the pipe for the ball valves and when enquiring what are they called? Is it pipe nipple?

Cheers

I forget the name the guy called them, I'll ask when I pick it up on Monday.

I just got my local fabrication/engineering mob to make one up for me cause all the ones off the shelf are galvanized & I wanted normal black steel. I got only one end threaded & it only cost $25. :kewl:

are you saying you got a 2.5 inch, custom built, steel ball valve for $25.00?

With the exchange rate, that makes it $34.09 US dollars. I would have to check shipping charges but I think it would be cheaper for me to pay you to mail me one next time than for me to get one locally. They are $225 US ($335 converted) (Disclaimer....mine is solid brass with stainless steel ball....all steel was not an option.)

Great find.

Hahaha, no I got the brass ball valve like you for $35AUD & the steel joining pipe made for $25AUD & I think you got the exchange rate backwards, it would equal about $17.50USD. Still works out to be about $49USD for the ball valve & pipe. :kewl:
