I must say that was the most interesting method I've seen lately. I am sure you carefully weighed it fires so as no to exceed the weight limit of the ladders. And you had on your hard hat, gloves and safety toed boots.....right?

To tig or mig corners? That's the question I've been struggling with. If I mig it's much faster and very minimal joint preparation and fit up is not as critical but, more heat and distortion. If I tig its a slow process and joint prep and fit up is critical so, I decided tig. I did a bottom seam just in case it was a bust. I am pleased with the results I acheived running about 52 amps and using 1/16" filler wire.

And Dirtytires don't forget about high vis vest and lift plan :D

Thanks bud, they're just 4"x4"x 1/4" carbon steel angle 12" long that I tapered from 4" to 2". Price was right and thought they'd look ok and work ok.

Are you welding the corners solid or leaving the welds spaced like that?

I welded them continuous with tig, took me about 6-1/2 hours and am glad to be past that part of the build ~x(.
It wasn't all that bad just be sure to add enough filler so when you dress your corners your not chasing low spots and end up with wavy corners or have to remove such a large amount of material to clean them up they crack later during heat cycles, atleast that's my opinion.

If anyone has advice the would help me solve my upside down and sideways pics issue I'd be forever grateful

That is one terrific looking smoke box!

Pictures are funny - in the post yours are upside down but in the gallery they're right side up. I noticed with my phone the pictures always posted with the orientation of the phone when I take a picture while posting. I have better luck taking the picture first and posting it from the photo gallery.

In the "TapTalk" app everything is showing right-side-up. I don't see any sideways photos from here.

Thanks for the nice comments, it's really hard to resist the urge to cut corners or say close enough so I can get it done especially when free time is limited. Oh well I'll keep pecking away at it and it'll been done before I know it.

With being a newbie and the level of talent and experience on this forum the compliments mean a lot , kind of like earning your stripes. I can tell you I'm already getting this feeling that this build isn't going to satisfy my building desire, it's only going to fuel my desire to take one of the large air receivers we demo out at work occasionally and see where it takes me. And just so everyone knows, when I do finally drag one of those air receivers home I'm blaming you guys when I get asked by the little lady what I'm doing.

Decided my valve needed a different style handle.

Well had to let a vacation to the wonderful world of Disney get in the way of my smoker building but I'm back at it and getting close, any opinions on thermometer placement?

Got ahead of myself and forgot to put the slam latch backing in so I cut an access panel in the door.
