Finished assembling the mini today and decided to run it before paint to see what happened and the only thing that happened is what was supposed to happen, thank you Frank for an awesome set of plans and the crew for guidance along the way.
I filled it with kingsford comp, lit her up, made two adjustments after closing the ash door and as some would say BAM! That's it, been holding steady for four hours. My wife doesn't understand how I can sit in a chair and watch the smoke gently drift from the stack :D

Fan-bloody-tastic dude, she looks mean & I definitely love the thermo placement, exactly where I want mine!

My missus is the same, just doesn't get the whole smoke staring thing at all, so peaceful & calming, almost zen, but most of all, the feeling of self satisfaction, tough to beat. :kewl:

Uh-oh! Looks like in my haste to see this thing run I forgot to put a drip ledge on the door, sometimes the excitement gets the best of Me. I guess that's why I never had a job at NASA.

& you built it upside down!! Hahaha =))

I'm sure it won't be too much of a hassle to put one in, small short welds & a lot of cooling time & she'll be right mate. Better you saw it now before you painted it. :kewl:

It's funny how our minds are never completely out of as my wife calls it "smoker mode". While shopping for a laundry sink faucet I seen this drain machine tip hanging there and I showed it to the missus and said " what do you see ?" And she replied "a spring" and I told her that's why I'm in charge of the smoker building at our house because I see a $4.99 rain cap and charcoal chute handle. She's not impressed.

Oh, that's a bad thing? No wonder I'm a mess, I've been doing that for years. I work out some of my best fixes in my sleep.

Does your wife scream when you attach the ground clamp to her? :welder:

Well I'm almost there fellow smoker builders, I chose a gray metallic paint which looks much better in person than in the photo. I've included a pic of my old smoker, I think I've upgraded a bit.
