How many types of smokers do you have?

Post by Rodcrafter » May 2nd, 2018, 5:48 am

I don’t know if it is just me or what, but I always think I could use another type of smoker besides the ones I already have.
1. UDS
2. RF Offset Backyard
3. Trailer rig has 3 types in 1 but I have to put it in my parking spot if I bring it home.

Don’t you think I should have a nice DP/GF with insulated CC at home? And maybe a Mack for the long road trip?

Is this in any way wrong or lead by obsession?

Just saying!

1 UDS
1 UDS Rotisserie
Trailer pit with Rotisserie, water pan and gas
Gas grill with smokebox
1 gas camping grill with smoke box
1 camping charcoal grill
1 Electric smoker
1 Modified UDS Charcoal Grill that can be used for hot and fast.
I have been told I have an addiction, but its not true.

I started with my RF trailer, then built a mini GF and have the parts for a UDS if I ever get home to put it together.

I also have a refrigerator to convert to a sausage smoker some day and a tray warmer cabinet that I would like to turn into a cold smoker for cheese and/or fish. Someday projects...

=)) RC of course you definitely need a Mack and a DP GF. :D

You might have to buy the property next door to house them all, but hey while you are on the acquisition trail...

Right now I have my UDS, propane cabinet and my trailer rig. I'm going to build an insulated cabinet of some sort if I can ever finish all of these honey do's. I agree 100% that you need at least 2 more smokers of your choosing :D

120 gallon RF on trailer,80 gallon charcoal grill on trailer,UDS,Weber kettle.
Got rid of my 85 gallon heating oil charcoal grill and my 35 gallon stainless steel charcoal grill.
My next projects are a fish smoker and add some LuAnne style doors and warming chamber to my 120.Probably gonna take my 80 gallon off the trailer and replace it with 3 UDS's.
So,YES, you need some more smokers!

Need another....probably not. After all, you (really, most of the time) only use 1 at a time...and they all do the same thing (oversimplified, i know).

However, that reasoning has not worked to prevent my wife from buying more shoes so i see no reason why it would apply to smokers, either.

Finishing up a double pan GF.
There's a [commercial] Brinkmann charcoal grill that also lives here.

The leaky old horizontal offset (Brinkmann, actually newer than the grill,) is going to be going away once I get a little rework done on the GF. There's probably no reason I can't cut it up and get rid of it now (except time.)

1. Patio size reverse flow with a warming cabinet.
2. Weber kettle.
3. Weber Smokey Joe.
4. Weber Jumbo Joe.
5. UDS that I'm still getting the hang of.

I agree with you RC. Everyone could always use another type of smoker.
My next one will be a trailer pit of some kind. ( Maybe a Mack? )
