Tylers boat build it is finished!!!! needs paint next

Post by TuscaloosaQ » June 15th, 2012, 7:05 pm

Do you remember Tyler was building a boat, some people thought he was Noah!!!I am proud of that boy (man) he has amazed a lot of people It is working flawlessly. The forst time he Took it out he was dissapointed because it was porpoiseing up and down. Well he tok all the batteries out from the back along wiith the gas tank and moved it up front we took it out yesterday evening and it performed outstanding. He installed a 2012 mercury 4 stroke 115Hp with hydraulic steering and a jack plate. H e instaled it all, today he added a jam up stereo system. I must say for 22 yrs old I will put him in there with some of the best:::: now did I dote jst a little bit.. Oh>>>> yes he is going to paint it

Thanks to all you guys, it is going to be nice. Tyler loves to tournament fish and actually won a night tournament 2 weeks ago. He built the boat so can do anything out of it and not worrry about little dings. he can duck hunt , fish, run jugs or trotlines, and pleasure ride and best of all it is paid for!!!!!! Smokeone that did happen to be tea, you are pretty observant!!!! since I switched to tea I aint had one hangover!!! LOL!! I was allergic to Alcohol it seemed to make me drunk!!!!! =)) #-o

Congrats to Tyler! - That feeling has got to be a lot like competing with a smoker you built yourself - can't beat it! :kewl:

And the only cure for that allergy that I've found is to just keep drinking...:D

For some reason I had never seen the pictures of this boat until this morning. I think I got to this thread too late and assumed I had already seen page 1. But WOW - nice build... again - congrats to Tyler - he really has the "touch" with fabrication.

I used to own a boat company back in the late 80's and here's an idea we had fun with instead of paint... take a scrap piece of the aluminum sheet he used and wipe it down with some bluing or RIT dye like they use in laundry. You can tint the aluminum blue (or whatever color you buy) then clearcoat it only - very interesting effect... just a thought ... :)

Thanks, ]Kam]Rick, Kam ]I think the beam is 84" the ride is very stable, some people thought it would be a wet ride but we were dry as a bone. Tyler is doing a fine job and has the gift of being able to see way beyond what he is doing if that makes any sense at all. His step dad has taught him the electrical part of it so he is going to be well rounded he is also very good at ornamental iron and custom truck accessories. I will be posting some pics of a couple of jobs he is completeing ....]Rick] I will tell]Tyler what you said he has not been sold out on painting the boat, although he did order some self etching primer and paint. We have never had great luck or painting aluminum

Any discount store will have it prolly over in the laundry detergents or possibly in with the sewing stuff... We found it took 80 grit all over the aluminum to raise a "tooth" to get anything to stick effectively... you can touch up the clear coat with a spit can pretty easy ... :)

That boat looks great. I know that was alot of work. I saw that you had said the boat was doing some "porpoiseing" My boat has trim tabs on it and it is easy to correct that useing them regardless of where the weight is. Just a thought.

Go catch something to smoke!!!!
