I love the brick work Cole. Those old bricks are so cool. Reborn as a smoker - doesn’t get any better.
Thanks dacolson!!

Got a few more layers on. These layers go soooooo slow!

From what I understand my biggest struggle will be my lack of bleeding heat due to all the mass. My wife came up with an idea to vent the air space in between the brick and cinder blocks. There are weep holes at the bottom of the brick, the air could flow in, then flow between the layers and up around the smoker and cool the bricks in the smoker from the back side. I would have an exhaust for that air space with a damper on it. I could open it and allow air flow to cool or keep it shut and allow all the mass behind the first layer of bricks to heat up also. I was thinking it would be just one more way to help control temp in the smoker. Thoughts?

That thing is going to hold heat like crazy. If your goal is to offset that a bit, you seem to be on the right track. I’m not sure how much it will effect it since the cinder blocks will be a pretty effective heat sink by themselves. Interested in seeing the results.

I like the reclaimed brick look here. Very nice looking build. It looks like it will be fun to cook on for sure.

Glad you have lights.

What is that smaller area in the main grill area? Is that a smaller grill?

Are you building castle crenellations and murder holes up there Cole? Love it. Gotta keep the snitchers away from the que before it’s done!
