I am planning on making a file cabinet smoker, with a fireboq in the bottom drawer, and a water pan in the second drawer, does anyone have any other ideas?

I have seen those with electric heat in the bottom drawer but not fire. I guess you could work it like a UDS and build a charcoal basket to put in there. Just make sure all gaps are sealed up real tight and it should work good.

I've seen those before. only thing that worries me is making sure there is no Galvanized or zinc plated metal in it. it could make people sick... real sick.

I have scene several file cab builds in the past, and like Matt, most that I have scene are of the elec variety. But I have scene one or two that were charcoal.
For coals, you will have to make sure that ALL the air gaps are sealed up. Like where the drawers are set into the cabinet.
A real easy trick for this would be to use strips of magnets placed around the edge of the drawers. The only air intake you want is the one that is dampened for air control.
Elec with an amaze n smoke box would make for a pretty trick smoker. Way more room then a mes30, and for way less money.
