120 gal Propane valves adaptors and propane removal

Post by MikeInMiami » February 9th, 2013, 9:06 am

Good Morning Smokers!
First post! just joined.
Does anyone know the best way to get the approx 25gal of propane out of the tank. Is there adaptors to fill smaller 20# tanks or am I better off getting a adaptor and connecting it to the grill and burning it off?
Thanks

Burn it off. You would need a pump to transfer it.

Oh by the way :welcome: .

use a weed burner with the brass connector. it will screw right on the tank and it has a high pressure regulator and a 10 foot hose. use a plastic squeeze clamp to hold the valve open once you get the torch lit. also use something to place the burner 10 feet or so away from the tank and higher off the ground than the top of the tank. I like 7 feet or so cus propane is heavier than air and will puddle on the ground in the low lying areas. place the burner on the upwind side of the tank incase of leaks. if you smell raw propane use soapy water to check for leaks before lighting the weed burner  .

Thanks again for the feedback. I think that the weed burner is going to be the least expensive and the safest do to the size and mounting abilitys. Let the burn off begin.....
