Looks ok to me. Only concern I might have is the firebox depth at 20 inches. If you put an internal latch on it and slip in a log rack, it’ll only hold an 18 inch log. If you cut your own wood thats no issue but my supplier cuts 18-20 inches so that would be about an inch or two short for me. You can put logs in sideways tho so not a huge issue, just something to consider.

I had thought about that as well. If I lengthen that to 22” I would have to shorten the height to 18” to stay sized correctly I believe. Is 18” still enough height? I’m open to suggestions. Thanks.

I don’t see an issue with that...could narrow it a bit also if you wanted it more square.

Not a bad idea but being a little more narrow will help prevent knees from getting up against the hot firebox.

Yep nice to finally be back at it. Got a little more done today. Got the cooler basket done, always a priority and got the tank mounted. Going to cut, band and hinge the door tomorrow so I can burn the tank out. Few more pics for ya. Don’t be afraid to point out any concerns y’all have.

Looking good so far :kewl:

Don't forget to space your CC door before welding the hinges if you're going to put gaskets on the doors.

Maybe make the door cuts top 1” past top dead center and the bottom 1” below 3:00. This allows the rain to run off and the bottom grate to be in the center and still slide out.

I did get the door cut out, banded and the hinges put on today. I did cut it past center on top but not on the side, didn’t want to go past the seem on the tank with the door. I’ll just make the rack lift out. The door sprung a little but we got it fixed. Need to fix the corners on the banding and it should be good to go. Gonna have a lot of grinding. Oh and the handle is temporary. Lol

Got a little more done today, just a little shout out to my buddy Dave and use of his shop. Finished a lot of grinding, welded on the door stops, burned out the tank, welded in shadow plate, welded in the baffle plate along with the drain, and put on some of the fire box and warming cabinet. It’s taking shape nicely.

So a question for you guys. I will have an opening between the cc and the wc and also between the fire box and the wc. I believe I need to install a baffle plate in the warming cabinet above these openings. Do I attach it to the cook chamber and have it open on the other three sides? Also how big of a gap needs to be left? Thanks.

On a similar size build, I ran a 4 inch diameter hole between them. I put a slide damper on each.

I’m not sure what you mean by “open on the other 3 sides”
