And Frank, don't forget the "outakes and bloopers" reel... =))

Howdy fellers,
*we had to make some minor changes to some of the parts for ease of installation... (which was expected)
*3 units have been put together and tested.
*customer assembly instructions are getting the finishing touches as we speak.
*getting very close to releasing

Frank
I just bought the files so I could cut out and build one. Were dimensional changes made in the cut list?

The new cooker is completely different than the plans. There is no cut list. Everything is completely pre-cut and formed. One guy by himself can easily put this pit together in two days. Might need some help lifting or whatever but nonetheless it’s a very fast build.

Well now I am really confused. I was under the impression the kit you were going to offer was the same gravity cooker. Is the new kit gravity cooker a better design than the old one?
Thanks

Yep, same size and similar in design. Main difference is the structural design. No tubing and other changes.

Will the plans for the new design be available for purchase?
Thanks

I’m guessing no. It appears to be designed to fit together much easier and faster than the original double pan. The benefit is that every part comes in the kit and is already cut and/or fabricated for you allowing for a much faster build with less welding. I’m thinking much of the sheet metal in the kit is bent/pre-formed in such a way that doing it at home would be impossible without a press/brake. The original double pan requires you to accumulate your own materials and cut/fabricate all the parts yourself.

They are both going to cook the same and have the same features from the sound of it. You have to decide if you want to build your own from scratch or assemble one from a kit. I don’t think you could go wrong either way.

:yth: and my 2c worth... depending on the price, I'd be having a serious look at the kit option.
But of course, you might like the idea of doing the whole thing by yourself. In which case the plans are the way to go.

Lmao! I'm anxious to see the price of this new one. Talked with Frank a while back about the Mack and while it's at the upper end of what I want to spend it's probably doable. Kinda big for what I do though...

If MACK is too big/expensive than the double pan kit/self build is probably not going to be better in either category. Might i suggest a reverse flow from a 24 inch pipe or the mini? We all have to balance our needs on a pit with our time and budget which is why not every smoker is perfect for everyone.

:yth:
The "smaller" series of The Mack will probably be a while off. The lads have quite a few balls in the air at the moment and might not be able to get to it this year.

As DT said perhaps a mini, or even the normal sized GF would be totally adequate for your needs. I can vouch for the ease of use of a GF. Just about as "set and forget" as you get for a smoker.

I'm leaning towards that pretty heavy now. Will definitely go full size. Definitely not new to building one or smoking. My dad, brother, and I built this one when me and my brother were in high school. Tons of fun! Image
