I do a lot of cobbler with a Dutch oven and charcoal but not on a smoker. Don’t see why it wouldn’t work. I’d probably still do it in a Dutch or at least cover the pan as I’m not sure I want smoked cobbler.
Well I tried it. BlackBerry and Apple. I have to say it was pretty good. I smoked with Hickory for an hour around 350. The apple cobbler was in the frying pan which was shorter and it seem to have more of a smokey flavor than the BlackBerry in the Dutch pan. I was gonna use cherry wood but it was a little wet so I went for the Hickory. I had apple and pecan. In my opinion I think any fruit wood would be better. This is definitely a keeper for me though. Had about 6 guest who loved it. Also smoked some hamburgers....cant beat Hickory smoked meat. I will share the recipe for cobbler in the recipe section. Its actually a YouTube video. I need to check the rules to see if I can just link it.
Learning generally boils down to "Repetition or the avoidance of pain", some people learn by doing, some by watching and some just have to pee on the electric fence.

That looks great.
I have a friend (gringoloco) who cooks a mean cobbler on his reverse flow offset stick burner. But he keeps the lid on the dutch oven and the cobbler doesn't actually get any smoke.
I think I'll try one in a cast iron skillet with some pecan wood.
