Lmao!! Been there done that a lot on building my offroad truck. And being an old welding QC dude this is much better for my OCD [emoji38]Dirtytires wrote:Having all those straight cuts and perfectly square corners sure takes all the fun out of a first build. Measuring and cutting all that plate is half the fun!! Grinding edges, cleaning plasma slag, shifting heavy plates....oh! the memories!
Yea, I am jealous....but don’t tell anyone.
I think so. I do have a few discs here for that purpose. Maybe toss legs on this and a but a disc underneath it to hold briquettes. Head is 0.154" thick so it should heat up and hold the heat decently.dacolson wrote:You gonna make a discards from the end cap?

Perfect idea. I was also thinking about here my grills/WSMs stand for height as a comparison. I definitely think 4' for CC center is too tall.Dirtytires wrote:Measure your kitchen counter and then decide how comfortable you are preparing food at that height. My bottom rack height matches my counter height and it works out nice. I used this same concept for planning the height on my outdoor island that has my gas and charcoal grills built in so all my work stations are the same height which makes it easy to switch between them.
I cannt access that end anyway. They are under the baffle and at the firebox. No one will ever see those welds again lol.hogaboomer wrote:I wouldn't put them directly on the bottom, it makes it awkward to scrape the grease. But, I guess if you can grind them totally smooth it's not such a big deal. I messed up and put a long seam right next to dead bottom. I won't do that again.
