I had an upside down cart like that with the casters up for turning the tank. Sacrificed them for air tank wheels. Definitely miss that cart.

Be better if it had brakes. I might have to engineer something, that ratchet strap system is getting pretty tedious.

I used to jam a bit of rubber gasket material in between the wheel and tank.

Well. Two steps forward and one step back.Getting the firebox door put together, pre-fab so I can put the whole thing on and not have to do it in position. Building upside down so I can get the legs and wheels and all put on, and weld the bottom of the firebox before I flip it back. Only problem is, I put the door on right side up. D'OH!!!

Hahaha. So good brother. You’re not the only one. Thx for sharing. Needed a chuckle. Your door and hinge setup look great.

Thanks, I like the way that hinge looks. I think the whole thing would look better with a thick plate for the door and just eliminate the need for flanges. That's what Mill Scale does, and they look really nice.

Do they put inner flanges on them?

No, they just overlap the opening. It looks like the door is about an inch wider than the opening, all the way around.

Hate to be a copy cat but sometimes things just make more sense. It’s really got me thinking about the CC door too. I tried the inner flanges on the build and am not happy w how they turned out. The door sprung on this little 60 gallon tank - only 3/16” steel - and it’s causing tons of fit up issues. Really hard to bend it back without damaging the door. Got even worse when I tacked on the hinges. Wondering about welding a 1” strap all around the inside of the opening, level with the tank - not recessed - so the door rests on the outside like those FB doors. Probably be a PITA to get the curved vertical straps to line up well. Just something I’m kicking around.

The door looks great! I've made a few doors using a piece of 1/4'' plate that's 3'' larger than the opening with a piece of 1/4'' that was 1/2'' smaller than the opening plug welded to the back of the larger piece. It basically made the door 1/2'' thick with an 1.5'' flange all the way around the opening. I thought I had some pictures of it but they must've been on my old phone.

That is a wonderful idea!!! I was not wanting to buy a sheet of half inch plate, no way to move something that heavy. I have some 3/16 and 1/4 inch I could use.
