I read this thread on your smoker build with growing respect and envy. What a beautiful smoker! Love to see more as you progress on the project. I'm no fabricator, but wish I could build something that nice. How much experience have you had with smoking / building before you took on this project?
Thanks Hungry for the kind words :-j ,...........other than cigarettes, and I`ve been off them for 27 years now!,I only smoked twice!, but after eating in the US on our trips there, I knew I`d like to build one. Then I found this site and the rest is what you have seen!, so I`m a bit of a fraud when it comes to cooking, but I`m trying! :D

finally did a smoke, oh and a burn before hand!, I used a chimney full of a charcoal made by Redhead matches, I think it`s a processed timber they use, and a few splits of timber to start then just a fist size split every 40mins or so.

http://www.redheads.com.au/images/prod/fire_fuel.jpg

biggest lesson learnt on the day was, don`t go mowing the lawn when you are supposed to be tending the fire :rulz: , well unti :D l you get the hang of it that is!

that was soon after putting a new log/split in( pre warmed that is), alot of the time you could not see the smoke at all!

dc I love those tiles, but the ones you have over there are better looking! :kewl: , I built the house about 19 years ago, we have 5 kids and needed alot of space, but now we are empty nesters and it`s to big for us, but can`t bring ourselves to sell! x_x

Usually more beers than smoke.

Thanks Guys!...dc, that skull was given to us by a mate I went to school with, it`s name was Curley!, you can see the hole in the skull where He shot it 8-x !

Frank, it actually welded up real nicely, well to my standards anyhow! :bigfoot:

Rick, yes that is the compliance plate and on the other side of that plate are the valves, just incase people don`t believe me it`s a LPG tank! :D

can I nominate " Drip Lip" as a word, to be entered into site slang? :rulz:

I vote yes on "Drip Lip" being added to the site slang :-B
... but you might point out that it has nothing to do with my mouth right after I come home from the dentist ...
just sayin' :-s
