Depends on what look you want. One of the advantages of oil is you need absolutely no prep work. Personally, if I were going to media blast mine, it would get a coat of paint. Just doesn't seem worth the cost/effort to just have it turn rusty again in 6-9 months when the oil wears off.
Be extra careful with any rags you use for linseed oil. That stuff will spontaneously combust. I folded one over and laid it on the smoker, came back an hour later and it was all burnt up. And the smoker wasn't hot, either.
I oiled her down yesterday and started seasoning with blowtorch and let the fire heat up.
The grill I did woth blow torch and the SB was done by the fire inside.
Nice looking green, kind a like that color.
Will it stay like that or get darker after more use?
