Monster, I love it. Wish I could find one that size this side of the pond!

Super clean cuts, Boomer. Plasma torch?

No sir, metal circular saw. Cuts through steel like butter, that thing is killer.

On another note, I just sold Big Tex.

Thanks, Brewmaster! I had a little hiccup yesterday, and had to cut three of the top supports out and move them. Then redo one grill frame, but I got it all looking acceptable, now. I went and bought a laser level last night, that thing is great!

Is that door cutout from 12 o’clock down to 9?

1 inch past 9. They didn't want any overhang on top.

Just sold The Texas Ranger (pending payment tomorrow). I put some clear coat on today, I like it.

What clear coat you use? Trying to find something put on Damascus steel without discoloring when heated

I used Rustoleum 2000. First time I've tried it, it sure is shiny. I had boiled linseed on it, but it was getting some surface rust, this looks way better.

Haha you've tried to sell them for months with no luck and now you've sold them both within a week of each other. Congrats!

Isn't that something? They've been on Facebook Marketplace for about 3 months, with hardly a nibble. Put the sign out in the front yard by the street and started getting interest almost immediately, then finally sold them both in the same week. I had to take my sign down, I got nothing left to sell. B-)

That's beautiful, man that's an epic firebox, what are the dimensions of this beast, chamber and box? I like it a lot, should be able to get a real even cook chamber with all that firebox length. My current offset has a big firebox and I'm a fan of how even and stable it runs.

This is what I started out with, his Dad's 50 year old pit. He wanted to salvage as much as we could and use it on the new pit. I scrapped everything but the lid on the firebox, it was nothing but rust. I kept the top half of the smoker, welded the door in and added a little height to it with plate from the toolbox that was welded on the backside of the smoker. It's about 19 inches tall by 36 long. The new cooker is 32 x 60 to the endcap weld. I used the old smoke stack for the counterweight, 4 inch schedule 80 pipe with some more steel stuffed inside.

Wow that's great, good job re-working all that and adding the extra height to the FB. Super cool that's it's a refurb/upgrade with all that history. The smoker itself is awesome, what a great size for little catering gigs and so on. :points:

They keep trying to figure out how many briskets they can cram in it.
