Welcome my friend. Lots of information and builds here to draw inspiration from. Be sure to start up a new thread once you think you've got a direction you want to head in with your build.
Once I get a direction, and can put a rough plan to CAD with the important dimmensions, I'll definitely be looking for feedback before jumping right in.
Looks like I've finally got a cook chamber for my build now. Realized I didn't have enough steel for the smoker I wanted to make from the 5/32 plate I had, so I kept searching for some cheap plate, or a tank to suit.
Put out feelers out there for a 100 gallon propane tank or 80+ gallon air tank which didn't end up leading anywhere.
Finally decided to cave on size and found a 60 gallon compressor tank for cheap on classifieds. Not as big as I wanted, but should be fine. After contacting that guy, and getting beaten by 10 minutes, I searched a bit deeper. Found a limited details ad, with crappy pictures for a 6' x 24" tank with no price given.
Turns out it was a business that just wanted to get rid of it, and were only asking $100! Didn't even have to sweat moving or loading it as they just hooked it up on the forklift and set it right in the bed of my truck.
So now I'm going to be rocking forward with a 120 gallon tank, the 5/32" plate for a 24x24x20 firebox this winter.
Sounds like you are on the right track....it's nice to see that steel prices are finally slipping downward a bit and we can all get back to fabrication.
