Simple car jack and ratchet strapped down worked well. Pulled in on one side and out on the other. Need to work it about 1/32” more but im fine with how it is now
Been a while since updated. Door mounted and worked it to what I thought is acceptable. It has a spring and twist to it. Lowered wall to grate level and didnt insulate it. Grates complete out of 1/2” round bar. Handle mounted as well as stack and FB damper. FB door complete with slam latch. Metal strips and expanded metal on cart similar to outlaw. Hopefully final test on Thurs goes well and I can sand down bare metal and prep for patina coating
Got to test changes out today and works very well. Once heated up a 1/4 turn on FB and stack dampers evened out temps. The actual grate is roughly 15-20F less than tel tru due to height they are mounted but still even across grate
Anyone know of good high heat clear coats? Trying find something durable and can be used with HVLP if possible. Wish cerakote made a high heat version. Only thing can really find right now is
I’ve seen frank recommend advantage automotive products. I’ve emailed them to see which application would work best but no reply yet.
Titus smokers has had success with IMRON paints.
In all of my googling, closest I’ve found are stove paints, there are some colors and clears. Look to be plenty good on the heat side, but I’ve never see someone use it, so can’t vouch for how it would look
Was able get areas I wanted painted covered with cerakote today. Have to let it cure before it can get wet so wont be able to do the patina until next week. Grinded down stack and was able to do copper and torch patina to it. Should have everything wrapped up by next Friday
Yes. Used copper Fx and Torch FX. If you take your time and order a lot you can create some really cool affects. I wanted it more natural so sprayed on and let it do its thing before neutralizing. Looks naturally patina but not a rust look
