Trailer smoker rig

Post by Pete Mazz » May 22nd, 2022, 2:41 am

It's taken a couple years but I'm finally getting to play with a Southern Pride XLR 1400. Friends built out the trailer for the pub owner that footed the bill. I was involved mostly just giving advice here and there. We just got it seasoned but there is a problem with the rotisserie so it has to go back to the shop. Took a couple pics but there will be more when we actually get to cook some food.

It runs off propane with wood for flavor.

And who doesn't need a cold beer when you're smoking!

If it's tourist season, how come I can't shoot 'em?

Nice project to be involved with. Even nicer that someone else's money is being spent! Can't wait to see a bit more detail and some food come out of that monster.

First big cook in the books. 50lbs pork shoulder, 50lbs brisket, 30 racks of ribs and 40lbs wings with sides of beans and coleslaw. Smoker cooks fast! Ribs done in 2 1/2 hours at 275! I'm spoiled for life now :needfood: Found out the XLR-1400 means it'll hold 1400 lbs of meat!!!

And it's so complicated to run...

Geez 1400 LBS!! I'd have to take out a loan to fill it up.
