rlmax02, I am a firm believer in the little things eat you alive on a build. When I built the boys cooker I did not think the little things would ever end Heck I thought they were breeding behind my back. The best way I have found to lose weight and lose a lot of sleep is a cooker build. :D

I really like it! I tink it is best to go with single color logos that have a nice silhouette to them. Everybody can see you from far away and know it's you. Also it's cheaper to print them on shirts, hats and banners.

hey everybody. i have been going nuts with real life the past few week and havent had a chance to touch the king cooker other than grilling some yard bird on her and rubbing the outside with a light coat of olive oil ( which i must say keeps it nice and clean, no rusty spots, etc). im still waiting on the wood to be etched for the ledge and the floor planks to dry out. this is going to end up being a full year build I think. Im diggin all the new members on here and applaud frank and tom and everyone else for keeping this site going

Well, you answered my question from the other post. LOL

And, there is nothing wrong with having a year long build.
I have a couple projects that have been going for years and years.

My big trailer is approaching the one year mark as well. Soon as halloween gets here.

Hey everyone...like I said in the above post, life has gotten really busy lately and the build has been sitting idle. I think I must of needed a break because I just havent felt like doing much....until today :D . I got a call saying my metal was finally cut for the warmer box and the park grill. A few hours later...Blam special delivery \:D/

Image
Image
here is everything cut per my CADD drawings.

I was so excited that I decided to tack up the park grill

In case you were wondering the holes in the bottom are for drainage and for air intake.
We are back in action boys and girls :ymapplause:

I dont know why but park grills are just freakin cool. go ahead tom put a post right in there and make yourself a monster grill. your kids will understand

Having access to the laser CNC has been a huge huge help. My files are imported right into the operators terminal, he decides how to nest the parts up, and whammo. I wish I could post up some pics of the cutting but no dice. Anyway its good to be back on the site and see how everyone is doing!

Oh man, were talking WAY WAY cool on the laser.

You have one heck of a friend, better keep him stocked up with good food.

I keep hoping Frank's gonna call and say that someone gave him 2 plasma cam tables. LOL and that he is on his way to drop one of them off. LOL In my dreams anyways.

I took the afternoon off today and was staring at the pile of metal leaning in the shed. I decided to go ahead and start tacking up the warmer box.
Image
here we go minus doors of course.
Image
gonna have a pair of 3 1/4" stacks coming out of the top. planning on matching them to the main stack on the cook chamber.
Image
just a pic of the back.
this is far as im going to go today. Im going to need help lifting it ontop of the firebox and we have a little girl named hurricain IRENE heading our way. gonna be an ugly weekend for sure. Going to start putting stuff away and weatherproofing the yard. I saw we have another native of MDs easternshore on here now which is exciting and Im sure he or she is bracing for the worst as well. wish us luck guys!

After much anticipation and long long days at work Irene has come and gone. After a bit of clean up I decided to relax a bit by working on the King Cooker :D
I got a bit of help and lifted the warmer box into position and finished the botom welds.

Because of all the extra weight on the rear the tongue got pretty light so the axel is going to have to move to the rear. This was already predicted though. Its just tacked into place now so the rig can be moved around the yard. still need bushings and such anyway. Of course I do the whole work for 5 and think for 15 routine and I came up with a good idea *-:)
The park grill was designed to be put in front of the main chamber and secured to the sides of the trailer along with supports running to the frame. Instead of that (picture this) I have envisioned the grill being put on a swivel mount which will allow the grill while in use to turn out from the trailer and make a L kinda shape in relation to the main chamber. Thought being that it makes everything like an outdoor kitchen. Ribs off the smoker and onto the grill for glaze or whatever. It also allows the grill to be turned in and secured while in travel. I just need to find a heavy duty pipe 3" maybe and a lockable swivel mount. no problem right? any thoughts feel free to chime out!
