Hmmm or did DC buy the bus and just paint it? :D

If it can't be smoked .... try frying it. It that don't work, it's probably best just left alone

After visiting with my Dad, it's all coming back to me ....
Unless you have access to free cull apples (just fallen off the tree) and a cider press it's more trouble than it's worth.
If a fellow could buy fresh pressed apple juice from an orchard or roadside stand - THEN you might have a shot ... at least the way I'm used to making it ... :D

And on the eighth day God created barbecue …. because he DOES love us and he wants us to be happy. :D

Rick, Thank you! I did search the web and it sounds like I need to wait till next years apple season to do it right.

You know I don't know if you all have ever mix Bourbon, I prefer Buffalo Trace, with apple juice, but I love it and find it a refreshing summer drink. I do a double shot in a 12 oz glass of of ice and then pour in apple juice. I discovered its drinking quality when I made the same thing for a spritz for ribs one weekend.

I did a tequilla lime juice spritz one time for some wings. Drank all the spritz half way through the cook. Driest, most enjoyable wings I ever made. :D

:help: Yeah, I know ... sidetracked again

Anyone have opinions on using red oak? I have a local wood source who is wanting to sell me a load at a real cheap price. I was thinking on using the oak as the warm up fuel source. As always all input is appreciated.

Here in California its very popular and highly regarded. I have eaten lots of Tri-tip grilled and/or smoked over red oak and its all been awesome. However, I've never smoked with it.
