Great post Wreckless. Thanks for sharing your wisdom! You rock! \m/

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

It would work fine if it is the right size. you usually need to increase the air inlet openings tho.
as far as the welding part goes you can not use regular welding wire/ rods for cast tho. If I remember (someone correct me if I'm wrong) you use a nickle alloy for cast
+1

a question about fireboxes
i read of someone using firebrick in a firebox. is there an advantage? pros and cons ?

also an unrelated question. how do i figure the end gap of the RF plate. i will be making it adjustable but i dont want to start too small and have no adjustability

The big con to fire brick will end up being pure weight....the damn box if 1/4 " plate will already be heavy as crap.....

As far as the end gap....somebody else can help you with that one....

If you can't fix it by sheer force or cursing......then it can't be fixed.....

For an adjustable BP Gap make the maximum opening equal to the FB to CC opening and the minimum will be totally closed. On the 160 gallon build I did I ran my gap at 1" most of the time and opened it up when I wanted to run 300 plus.
