I like the clove idea, that's a nice tweek to the overall flavor :kewl: I'm gonna knock out a batch this weekend. I think the only item I have to hunt for will be the cinnamon sticks. Any thoughts on doing 50/50 with brown and regular sugar?

If it can't be smoked .... try frying it. It that don't work, it's probably best just left alone

I have some people do mix the sugar with the 50 / 50 method....being this was my first try I didn't roam from the directions....but next time (which will be a while)....I will try different variations....

Dink...the only downside to making this is waiting for the cool off period to add the moonshine.....the smell of the brew is very intoxicating.....

1/2 gallon of apple juice
1/2 gallon of apple cider
3/4 cup white sugar
1 1/4 cups of brown sugar
4 cinnamon sticks
1/2 liter of 190 Proof Grain Alcohol, Everclear or equivalent.

To get started, you need a large boiling pot. Add into this pot the apple juice, apple cider, the white and brown sugar, and the whole fresh cinnamon sticks. Bring these contents to a boil, then remove the pot from the stove and let it cool down to room temperature. Once at room temperature, gradually stir in the 190 proof grain alcohol. What you don’t consume in one sitting, you can bottle for later use. Store it in sterile Mason jars, place one cinnamon stick in each jar, and then store them in a cool dark dry place. After a couple of weeks your Apple Pie Moonshine will taste even better. This batch will make about 4 1/2 quarts.

Rick that is the one I use.....

Rick this is my tweaked version that I have made 3 times now. Dang friends keep showing up and toting off the bottles so it must be pretty decent

"Apple Pie"
1 1/2 gal apple cider
1/2 gal apple juice
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
9 cinnamon sticks
2 whole cloves
1 teaspoon vanilla
Put apple juice, sugar, cinnamom, vanilla and clove together in large pot and let simmer for about an hour.
(I wrap the cinnamon and clove in a cheesecloth pouche to keep the final concoction looking as clear as possible but thats a personal choice)
Turn off the heat and add the apple cider, let cool to room temp. Finally add a fifth of Everclear
Too much of the batch evaporated when I was putting all the liquid in up front and it was just too dang strong
 Good Luck
