new build

Post by chlfried » August 9th, 2012, 12:27 pm

I am currently building my first rf and have a couple of questions about the deflection plate.
1. How far from the end of the smoke chamber should the deflection plate stop?
2. How far down from the grate should the plate be?
I am working with a piece of 36" steel pipe 1/2" thick with a cap welded on far end and it is about 12' long any help would be great

chlfried, the opening at the end opposite the firebox should at least equal your firebox to cooking chamber opening.
I prefer my R/F plate to be between 1" and 5" below my lowest grate with a 1" fall away from the firebox.
I hope this helps. :)
